Thank you for your interest in volunteering! The Center for Sex Positive Culture is run almost entirely through volunteer efforts. Volunteers create and staff all of our events, and keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
Ambassador - Ambassadors are the "welcoming committee" of the CSPC. It is the Ambassador's job to help all members feel welcome and invited. Ambassadors are extremely important, as they are seen as a direct reflection of the CSPC's mission statement, values and ideals. They are to be friendly and approachable by any person throughout the entire party. People who are social butterflies, comfortable striking up conversations with strangers, and who can easily read social dynamics are ideal ambassadors.
Play Monitor - Play Monitors are there to help ensure that play runs smoothly. While Ambassadors cater to members in the social area, Monitors assist members in the play space. Monitors' duties could include: Moving equipment, watching out for spills or hazards, monitoring edge play for safety, helping with special requests, or interceding in a potential conflict. They also make sure that no one walks through the play space, and monitor equipment usage. Monitors also occasionally do sweeps of the parking lot, and can be asked to walk people to their vehicles. Play monitors should be attentive and diplomatic.
Cashier/Greeter - Cashiers are not simply responsible for taking money and entering members into the door system. Cashiers also act as the first and last impression any member has of the CSPC and its volunteers. They are responsible for checking in every member that enters during an event, checking ID when necessary, taking cash and credit cards, using the credit card machine, using the cash register, and entering all transactions into the door system. Cashiers should be friendly, professional, and courteous.
Event Coordinator - Event coordinators are the people who create and run events. With the support and assistance of the board, they find a venue, organize volunteers, and keep things running smoothly at the event itself. Event coordinators are responsible, organized, and most importantly, have an idea that they want to make a reality.
Other Volunteer Opportunities - People who don't want to volunteer at parties or other events put on by the CSPC can still help the organization in important ways. We need volunteers to help with outreach at events like Pridefest, administrative volunteers to help with data entry, and volunteers who can help with building and maintaining play furniture. We are also always happy to hear from people with legal and financial backgrounds for our advisory council.
